3 Year Old William Smith was suffering what appeared to an asthma attack causing his mother to provide him with Albuterol via a nebulizer.  Later that day his babysitter noticed the child was having difficulty breathing and when his symptoms did not improve after using the nebulizer, she called 911.  Paramedics responded to the home.  The babysitter contended that the paramedics provided treatment to William with his home nebulizer and then left the scene after his condition appeared to improve.  The paramedics denied they made contact with the child and instead maintained they showed the babysitter where to plug in and how to operate the nebulizer before they left.  Moments after the paramedics returned to the firehouse they were dispatched again to William’s home where they found him in respiratory arrest.  The treated and transported him to Mercy Hospital were he was pronounced dead.
